Zeta-Jones Opens Up About Bipolar Disorder

Actress Catherine Zeta-Jones has opened up about her diagnosis of bipolar disorder at a mental-health clinic in recent months. The wife of Michael Douglas said she hopes to help raise awareness about the disease as well as help fellow sufferers seek treatment. Admitted to a mental-health clinic after deciding she needed help with depression, the actress said she never quite recovered from her husband’s cancer diagnosis. Now, she says she’s risking the public exposure in order to reach out to others. Brave woman! ?This is a disorder that affects millions of people and I am one of them. If my revelation of having bipolar II has encouraged one person to seek help, then it is worth it. There is no need to suffer silently, and there is no shame in seeking help,?? said the actress Zeta-Jones was diagnosed with a bipolar II, which is a less extreme version of the classic bipolar I disorder. Signs of the disease include emotional cycling between extreme happiness and depression. I personally had no idea that someone could develop the disease as a result of a traumatic incident! A friend of Catherine’s said she noticed the actress’s behavior start to change after Douglas’ diagnosis. [...]
